Hi can anyone tell me how I can pay an employee in Quickbooks 2012 when they have no NI number yet? I'm supposed to be able to do this. Apparently temporary format TN/dob/gender aren't used any more?

Have you tried just leaving the NI number blank?
Try just not filling in the NI number. That is the correct approach as far as HMRC is concerned when the NI number is not known.
