I think that the latest "Agent Update 28" is cack-handed. It starts straight in about "Payroll Alignment" in very technical and off-putting terms - poor communication.

But my question is about the means of filing. At present a Contractor can file CIS Returns through the HMRC website with no special software, and Employers can do the same with P35s, P45s etc. All the other taxes have the same free facilities. Does mention in the Agent Update of the Government Gateway indicate that a similar process will be available for RTI ?

Otherwise the impression is left that we must all equip ourselves with purpose-built software, and test it for "Payroll Alignment". That would seem to me to be a massive thing - all employers in the Country being forced to pay money to private companies. Surely not?
