remote access to clients computers, is it worth...

Didn't find your answer?

I am looking at enhancing my practice technology and although cloud may be the way I go for me I am also thinking about offering remote support to clients with non cloud software. at present I like the personal touch and do not feel this will change that much but there are certainly times where a quick adjustment is all that is needed, rather than a visit to client premises.

does anyone offer remote access support? what software do you use and how have you found the transition? how quickly did you adapt or is it an expensive non starter?

also for me as I move towards cloud it would also be a good transition to remote access my own computer.

We use Mikigo and it's brilliant! The paid for versions for commercial use are very reasonable https://www.mikogo.com/

I think Microsoft Remote Assistance is as good as anything, and it comes free with Windows so most clients should have it installed already.

Don't trust them!

If you have access to a clients system make sure (and double check) that you record on your own system every thing that you do on theirs.

If you can, record every single keystroke that you make when you're on their system..

If you must link to clients machines use a stand-alone PC if you can.

Maybe the benefits outweigh the risks - you decide.
