Retail business software/accounting system

Retail business software/accounting system

Didn't find your answer?

Good afternoon all.

I'm looking for recommendations for setting up a small (but hopefully growing) retail business with one bricks and mortar shop and an e-commerce website. I was thinking that Xero plus Vend may seem to be the way to go but I am also conscious that costs need to be kept down while the business grows.

The other factor is whether reporting is user-friendly enough for the business owner to keep an eye on profits.

Has anyone had recent experience of a similar set-up?

All advice (from real live accountants rather than software sellers!) appreciated!

Try Xero - I have a couple of clients in retail. One uses VT cashbook to keep things very simple . for the other we use Xero, but again keep things very simple.

Xero is great for add ons so if you have e-commerce then look at these. Wouldn't recommend VT unless you are keen on manual data entry.

Cost is not that high given the visibility you should get for your business.

Many thanks!

Thank you Halex, I have worked with Xero but not Vend but was hoping it would be the way to go. I saw a few custom ones like Brightpearl but they seemed expensive. Not sure how much reporting/control can be done with regards to the stock side but might need to sacrifice some detail for the amount of money the client would be prepared to spend on software.
