RTI and clients

Didn't find your answer?

Hi

I run payroll for a client who I email with payslips etc each pay period. She has had an employee earning £78 per week and has decided to tell me today after running their payroll that the employee was moved up to £98 per week from the start of April.

I have 15 weeks of payslips that are down £20 each and my question is if I unlock these periods and then amend/refile the RTI with the correct amounts then would the client avoid a penalty providing I tick the amendment to earlier submission box for each week?

Thanks in advance.

Use the correction to earlier submission flag.

Don't file 15 weekly corrections

Just re-run the payrolls for the 15 weeks and in week 16, file your FPS in the usual way - per the first method in the HMRC guidance.  The arrears will be automatically corrected because the FPS contains the YTD figures.
