RTI late filing 2013/14

RTI late filing 2013/14

Didn't find your answer?

I have been approached by a new client who would like me to process her 3 payrolls. 1 x 4 employees plus two diddy 1 employee payrolls so all three are "micro employers" not connected to each other.

We are now too late to file as past the new 19 April deadline, client thought she had until old 19 May deadline, all payments of Paye & Nic are up to date. She hasn't taken on board RTI filing at all, (yes I have told her off!) she is still using the old P11 sheets & HMRC basic tools & even the old tax tables book, for those of us old enough to remember them. My Moneysoft payroll doesn't file the EYF which is required. So how are we supposed to file her payroll year end? Any suggestions?

Surprisingly I can't get an answer on the HMRC Employer helpline, having been on hold for an advisor for over 50 mins twice already.

Neither can I down load the HMRC basic tools, just keeps crashing my computer :-(

What do you mean ...

What do you mean by "HMRC basic tools" if not HMRC's Basic PAYE Tools?  It sounds as if she has indeed been complying with the RTI requirements.

However, if any processing for 2013/14 is outstanding, you can only file an Earlier Year Update at this stage and as Moneysoft does not offer the facility, the best way to do it is indeed with Basic PAYE Tools.  Not sure what your problem is with downloading BPT - I did it a couple of days ago and it works fine.

Ah yes, as I haven't used the HMRC basic PAYE tools for a few years does it automatically file the RTI reports then? She is a bit vauge about what she has actually done, as clients often are, and has presented me with old fashioned P11 sheets beautifully completed by hand.

If this is the case panic over, thank you very much, my client couldn't understand why she couldn't complete a P35 this year. I tried to explain...............

I don't know why I can't down load it either? I used to use it but switched to other software as I needed to produce payslips.

Just looking at 12Pay software anyone used it?

As they do EYU's, less stressful than trying to speak to HMRC!

Late RTI filing for 2013-14 on HMRC

Hi Guys, one of my new client hasn,t filed a single RTI return for 2013-14.He is the sole director and were on the minimum salary throughout the 2013-14. The client has already registered for online services. I am trying to file it though the basic paye tools by using the Earlier year update service but the option it gives me is to put in the original filed return figures and then there is an option for the revised return. It doesn't make sense to me as I think this is only applicable to those who have already filed a return and want to make any changes in it whereas, in my case I haven't filed it at all. Can someone help me in this?

Thank you so much in advance.

Don't enter any figures on the original submission page (apart perhaps, from the PAYE code which I think you have to enter).  Just move on to the next page and enter your figures for the year as revised figures.

Basic PAYE tools

I gather that this does not run on some versions of Windows.

Lots of people are affected by this issue, it seems that many were totally unaware of the change of deadline. I see why people may have missed the deadline, whilst geeks like me are online the whole time (when broadband works) scanning HMRC's pages most normal people are not!

Firstly, why did HMRC change the 19th May deadline at all? We are all still finding our way around RTI and even HMRC acknowledges that in terms of penalties. The ATT requested that the deadline be set back to 19th May, because HMRC's site went down after 5 April and no one could file - it would have been sensible.

Secondly, given that some of HMRC accredited software does not do EYU then it is only fair that HMRC should compensate those who have been caught out by using HMRC accredited software. Why should anyone be forced to faff around with new software and duplicate work already done.

I think that HMRC should in these circumstances either accept the returns by phone or on paper. HMRC caused this issue, and if it had promoted the change to the 19th April more fully then I think that we will all agree that that most people would have complied.

I will pass this on to the main tax bodies.
