RTI Problems With Ceased Trading Company

RTI Problems With Ceased Trading Company

Didn't find your answer?

This is half rant, half question!

We were processing a payroll which had the final employee leave June 13.

We did EPS's up to month 9 advising no employees.

Unfortunately EPS's were not processed for months 10, 11 & 12.

Company ceased trading 31/03/14 & EPS sent advising.

Now received Specified charge for months 10, 11 & 12.

This payroll was processed on our old payroll system so trying to do these EPS's on the BPT to advise no employees months 10, 11 & 12.

BPT Submission has failed as the PAYE Reference has been closed down as ceased trading.

HMRC have now advised we need to get the PAYE scheme re-opened so we can submit blank information and then close it down again.

This is absolutely ridiculous and a complete waste of our time and, of course, non-chargeable as the client is no longer trading.

Feel like just writing a letter instead of jumping through all these hoops........

Was it a limited company, and if so, has it been dissolved? If so, tell HMRC, and they'll write it off at their end. (no company to pursue for payment, and they won't pursue the director for a specified charge in respect of PAYE that they know not to be due)
