Sage 50 2015 v21 Problem.

Sage 50 2015 v21 Problem.

Didn't find your answer?

Good afternoon,

I have been pulling my hair out and hope you can help.

We originally had v20 2014 which had no problems at all. We upgraded to 2015 v21 a few months ago and have had errors randomly after posting invoices.

It was running on 2011 SBS but I have recently found out that it's not supported due to SQL & exchange on the same server and has never been very quick. It used to take around 35mins to do a check and a backup on 2011 sbs. since moving to 2012 R2 we can do both in around 12mins.

So I installed a fresh copy of 2012 R2 on the second server that runs VMWARE ESXI and only installed Data Service Manager and changed the location of all the machines to look there.

Yay.. I thought we have fixed the problem. But no still get errors after posting invoices after a couple of days of being fine. Odd thing is. We can do a restore choose the same invoices again and post them. Do a check and it's fine.

I can't make the errors come up twice. So to me it seems it's a network problem thats causing the issue.

Now I did the Adept Heath Check. Split Trans is around 800 from a client machine. If I move the files local I get around 3500.

I like to add there is no anti virus installed.

Currently the server is installed on a VMWARE EXSI system so as a virtual machine. If I access sage from another virtual machine I get around 2000 on the split trans.

Just wondering if you have any suggest or anyone I can speak to you assist me is fixing this problems.

I'm currently looking into network switches. As I think they may be the bottle neck of the system.

I'm struggling to work out the problem.

We normally post around 100-150 invoices in one go. Even when we did them in a batch of 40 or so. We still got errors randomly.

Hope you can help.

Kind Regards,

Lawrence

Have you tried doing a purely local install of sage, if this works you will know that networking is the problem.
If v20 worked and then v21 did not, the problem may be with Sage itself - buggy software.
SBS/MS SQL and Exchange was a fairly common combination, it does put the server under a lot of load but I doubt that this was the problem.

Working on a similar problem

I'm working on a similar problem for a client, and also making little progress.  They experience random data corruptions when posting transactions, but not particularly related to bulk updates as your issue is.

Have you tried posting on the server or the second virtual machine that you mention (ie eliminate the physical network as a cause)?  Also is the server event log free of warnings and errors?

Couple of other questions: which Sage 50 service pack are you running; do you use any third party add ons?

Thanks for the Adept stats btw.  I'm seeing much lower rates, to the extent that I wondered if the figures on Adept's web site applied to 2015 .. so I have something to work on.
