Sage 50 and Avast issue

Sage 50 and Avast issue

Didn't find your answer?

For the past couple of months, when I have clicked on bank to make a payment in Sage, the main screen has either not changed or is blank. Our advisor said it was the Avast program doing this and advised to close Sage and reopen. This worked until yesterday and now it does not move to the bank screen at all. Our advisor said he and Sage had tried to resolve the issue, but it was the anti-virus program causing the problem and it could not now be resolved. He said we could probably use it on our other computer which does not have Avast installed on it or we could reinstall, but this would mean we would have to start again from the beginning with Sage.

I will be going into work tomorrow to try and use Sage on the other computer, but I would be obliged if anyone has experienced this issue and can offer advice and guidance.

Thanks in advance

I gave this advice earlier on another thread

I gave this advice on an earlier thread and the posted PM me to say it worked.

f you go into the the your Avast quick scan screen and then go to the Quarantine chest at the bottom of the screen look for files with SG50 for sage. Right click them and and pick Restore and add to exclusions . your Bank will reappear.

The Files are SG50Bank.dll and SG50Memorised.dll . These were the files in my case. If you see any other sage ones do the same and it should resolve your problem.

Thanks for your help!
Thank you for responding immediately to my post. When I got into work, our advisor had already uninstalled Avast and after a shutdown, Sage worked. So I believe if I had followed your advice, the program would have worked. I was told to install another antivirus program, so I installed McAfee. Once again, thanks so much!

Avast

OP - I'm somewhat surprised that Sage were unable to resolve the issue for your advisor, they have known about it since at least October last year!!

Avast/Sage
Sage accessed the computer as well as our advisor and they told him that the program had been corrupted by the software - he said some of the registers must have been changed and they could not offer any further help with this issue so I was really worried going into work this morning. Thankfully it was sorted out.
