Sage Accounts Production with SFS Module

Sage Accounts Production with SFS Module

Didn't find your answer?

Following the recent release of Sage Accounts Production with the SFS module I wanted to see if anyone else has started to use this software and the numerous bugs that come with it? or am I the only person to not have moved to an integrated system such as Iris or Digita and is it time to switch?

Some of the problems I have found:

  • unable to edit any table by removing lines including most notes and shareholders funds.
  • unable to change the font to Calibri.
  • opening balance not being brought in the profit and loss account note.

Please any help would be appreciated along with your experience of SFS.

I installed the SFS module earlier this year and the first time I tried to use it found so many errors that the package was unusable.  Spoke to customer service who said they were aware of the problems and were issuing a patch to fix them within a week.  Many months later a patch has still not been issued. I think they have given up on fixing the current SFS module and just hoping that the new version will work.

Luckily I hadn't changed turned on SFS for any of my clients just my own company accounts because once you have moved a client to SFS you can no longer use the normal SAP pages.

I've now completely given up on SAP and moved to VT instead.

Unbeliveable

Sage recently spent a whole afternoon updating my accounts production software (which meant my terminal server could not be accessed so staff unable to use their computers from our second office).

The program is complex and despite spending a few hours viewing the video help available my staff could not get a very simple set of accounts to work - many, many very basic errors and it was VERY slow.

The next day hours were spent on the phone to Sage support. The technician then admitted that they have had no training so were learning at the same time as trying to help (!) and they were getting a lot of calls from people about the basic problems (which he didn't know how to sort). We were given the opportunity to spend ages on the phone with him learning how to use the software or (and he recommended this second option) just ignore SFS and go back to using the original SAP program!

A few days later I get an e-mail from Sage (marketing) saying how they have agreed with the Revenue that their current program is providing enough iXBRL tagging for now and can be used until April. They are now updating the SAP program so no need to transfer to SFS unless we want to.

Strangely enough this is the first phone call to Sage where we did not get a request for feedback - I guess they know what I was going to say!

I am still awaiting an apology or an explanation from Sage but think this is probably the kiss of death for my relationship with Sage. I can not see why they deserve any more money from me.

Anybody know any good software to use?

I have also posted on the above similar thread on this subject

Ditto the experiences above.

Sage have announced they are scrapping SFS and instead using a fully integrated system within SAP which is apparently in the final testing stages. This is now the third solution for Sage Accounts Production, and finally we get the solution we should have in the first place. Do I hold my breath as to whether it will work?

I think Sage realised the SFS software was unworkable hence the lack of them training their staff properly. I think they issued it so they had some kind of solution for April 2013, but since then HMRC have announced that the "soft landing" isn't to end next year.

Do I hold my breath as to whether it will work?

I actually like Sage AP, but then I liked it when it was Apex. Sage has done remarkably little to the software since then, and when they do...well, SFS anyone?

SFS webpage still up

Presumably there are still some mugs / guineau pigs still out there using SFS as the following webpage still is live:
