Sage Line 200 guide?

Sage Line 200 guide?

Didn't find your answer?

Having recently started to use Sage 200 I am struggling with some elements which differ greatly from 50/100.  Can anyone suggest a good idiot's guide that has a good lookup structure?

My immediate problem is whether the old 'File Maintenance' feature exists in 200!

I have to say that having used Exact Globe 2003 for years, (and criticised it along the way!), Sage 200 is a piece of S_1t by comparison!

Sage 200

There isn't an equivalent of File Maintenance as such - there is an option called Balance Ledgers in the Accounting System Manager which checks the integrity of the data.

There isn't a dummies guide for Sage 200, problems with writing such a book are a) the scope of Sage 200 which, as you'll know, has hundreds of options and b) as it is a completely customisable system, potentially, no 2 installations of the software are the same, a particular process one one installation may work differently to the same option on another installation which is one reason why all support for the software is via Business Partnerss, Sage don't support the software directly.

I assume Sage 200 was sold to you by a Business Partner?

Thanks John

I have recently started with a company that already runs 200 and yes we do have support.  However it's the everyday niggly things that I need a crib for; I don't think ours has been customised too much, if at all.

As I said in my OP, having used a system in which virtually anything was possible in seconds Sage 200 is no comparison.  I find the fact that even having pressed a 'print' button one has to then open the print spooler and tell it again VERY frustrating.  I realise that the 'view' function is in there but to my mind it should be one step back.  Also the search function is very laborious in ledger lists unless I am missing something (hence the need!).

Printing

With regards to the prints going to the Spooler, if you go to File -> Choose Output Mode, you can change from Spooler to Printer.

There are several ways of searching in lists, from simply clicking on column header to order by that column, through right clicking in column and using find, to applying a filter.

Also for this purpose, rather than print I'd export to Excel and search there, at least if there aren't too many entries in the list (this comment assumes you're on a reasonably current version of Sage 200, as exports to Excel were slow on early versions).

Might be worth asking your support company to give you some onsite training?

Invest in some training

From what you describe, it really does sound like you need to invest in some professional training from an expert.

I would suggest that you contact your local Sage 200 specialist and discuss your needs with them. They will more than likely be able to help you to get more out of your Sage 200 than you would ever do by reading a book.

Sage 200
We have just had it installed week 7 and I would go back to 50 tomorrow!
It's not installed properly and we spent £20k on it, director of company visiting next week I'm not happy!
Might contact sage and ask for an independent review.

Re SAGE LINE 200 not SAGE 200

I am currently working in a company which has SL 200 (as opposed to S200 ERP).

Can anyone help with creating analysis codes for sales ledger?

There are 3 obvious ones: Territory, Ind class., Region.

There are 5 others, labelled "Analysis A-E" plus corresponding databoxes "sev days 1-5".

The current staff do not use them because they do not know what they are for.  I am rearranging the sales ledger prior to a migration to Sage ERP 1000 (support on SL200 is being withdrawn shortly) and would like to have increased analysis.

analysis codes in Sage 200

FYI for those that are struggling to set up analysis codes, we have a pdf guide on how to use them within sage 200.

You can find the link to download it here - sage 200 analysis codes set up guide

With regards to amending transactions, the file maintenance function doesnt exist because of the separate ledgers. If its simply a due date/second ref you can amend that using the amend transactions function. Otherwise you will need to reverse the transaction.

Hope this helps
