Sage Line 50 Bank set up - foreign currency

Sage Line 50 Bank set up - foreign currency

Didn't find your answer?

I'm trying to set up a US$ bank account in Sage Line 50.  The currency field in the bank record is greyed out so I can't change it from sterling to USD.  I've tried making it each of the 3 types of bank account (cheque/cash/card), but they're all the same.  I've set up an exchange rate in the "Currencies" section of the settings menu.

What am I doing wrong you clever people???

Thanks.

Foreign Trader

Has Sage been enabled for Foreign Currency by running the Foreign Trader Wizard?

Will that have any implications elsewhere?  I just wanted to set up a USD bank account as I'm squirreling away some $'s in advance of a business trip to the US next year.  It's for a training course, so it won't involve any "trade" as such - just expenses.

Many thanks.

Implications

You need to be using Sage 50 Accounts Professional and you can't do it at all if you are on VAT Cash Accounting.

As for the implications, open the help file and search the Index for 'Foreign trader' - there is a document detailing what happens if the option is switched on.

Wonderful!  (Not on cash

Wonderful!  (Not on cash accounting, and it must be a "Professional" version as it's let me do it).  Thank you SO much for your help, John.
