Santander Share dividends

Didn't find your answer?

I'm doing a pro bono 2012/13 tax return for an old lady who has 100 Santander shares.

Div as follows:

12/04/12  100 shares

Gross Value of rights sold to Santander £17.62

Spanish Withholding tax 21%

Cash due from sale of rights £13.92

Where does this go on the tax return?

What do I enter?

Thank you

This is a scrip dividend payment and is treated as a capital distribution. I believe it is not liable to UK Income Tax so you do not need to include it on the UK Return. There will be some info on the Santander website on this.
