I have set one of these companies up £300 to set the company up and £1,700 covering each of the stages of obtaining advance approval, issuing the qualifying shares etc. Though this client did want a lot of hand holding along the way, so this just about covered our time costs!

I have just quoted a client for SEIS after approval in the initial stage by HMRC. The fee is £2500 and was accepted with no arguments.

The client is very aware of the processes and is helpful so I will not be spending unnecessary time.

At the same time EIS has been quoted for and accepted for a fee of £3500.

We charge as little as £249 for SEIS advanced assurance

We have three SEIS advanced assurance packages aimed at the start-up market, starting from as little as £249 plus VAT - you can see them here: http://seisgurus.com/our-packages/.

We've found that most start-ups need some degree of handholding to navigate the rules, but do not usually have the budget to spend large amounts of money on the process.

Most start-ups also aren't fully aware of all of the pitfalls and the burden of on-going SEIS/EIS compliance and therefore they struggle to see the "true value" of a Rolls-Royce service.

We've come up with a balanced approach that is highly streamlined and it allows us to provide just the right level of handholding whilst keeping our costs down.

It works best for brand new companies applying for SEIS or a combination of SEIS and EIS. Where the company has a trading history or a complex structure, we typically charge more through a bespoke package.

As most start-ups use lawyers to draft the shareholder agreements and articles, we don't usually get involved in the share allotment process. We help start-ups submit the compliance statement but we don't usually charge for that.
