Anyone else having trouble signing in today? Why is it that HMRC always seems to have trouble at this time of year, the worst time not to be able to log in and get the information I need. They know there is always a surge of usage I January, so why can't the build a system that could cope with it?

Different Route?
Are you having trouble signing in to HMRC online services? I had a problem last week getting in via my usual route which was to click on the link for SA for AGents : HMRC Online Services at
https://www.gov.uk/topic/dealing-with-hmrc/tax-agent-guidance
as the page seemed to have been reconfigured and kept taking me to an application to use the services!
(Unhelpfully) I cannot now remember how I worked around it as I put a shortcut on my browser once I found the way in.
No problems
We've had absolutely no issues today either in signing in or in filing returns, which go direct from the software without the need to sign in
We also have no experience that "HMRC always seems to have trouble at this time of year" It's quite a few years (ten or more?) since we experienced capacity issues in January.
strange problem over the weekend
we couldnt file anything last Friday until I tried it with the VPN turned on, never had that happen before
