Self employed and Employed

Self employed and Employed

Didn't find your answer?

I have a friend who is employed by a company in the UK and travels to India for consultancy, the company wants him to invoice the company for the time he spends in India (Travel Hotels included & the consultancy) but my issue is he is employed by the uk company under the PAYE system can he do both? Is there another way perhaps by paying him a dividend at the end of the year?

Eh?

So he's PAYE and as part of that he has to go to India

And they want him to do that part of his role self employed?

This is not possible, employment is a matter of fact

Yes he is employed by company but whenever to goes to India for 2/3 weeks that time, they want my friend to invoice the UK company and not India as they Invoice India for his time/expenses, so hence the need to invoice the UK company.

I have not come across this before, were you are asked to invoice the UK company as a self employed person would that not cause Tax/Nic problems ?

Who invoices India?

Maybe I've missed a bit with the heat, but the OP's 2nd post says "they want my friend to invoice the UK company and not India as they Invoice India for his time/expenses, so hence the need to invoice the UK company." Who does the Indian company pay, your friend or the UK Co? I can see why they might be aggrieved if they pay his wages and he keeps the cash form the client co. surely they send him, they invoice India, they pay his wages. End of.
