Hi,
I have currently completed my level 3 AAT qualification and now moving onto level 4. I am thinking of doing some bookkeeping after hours etc as a sole trader.
Mainly i'm a bit overwhelmed with the initial set up. Am i able to do this whilst only level 3 qualified as such. I was under the impression that this is fine as i can work up to a trial balance level and hand over to the accountant.
Obviously Software has crossed my mind and how best to do this could anyone recommend what to use, which will enable me to hold records for multiple clients at a relatively cheap cost?
I have marketing and a website covered but im obviously waiting on the finer details before giving the go ahead.
Also im sure insurance is needed to cover myself but any advise is appreciated. If im missing any key things please do advise.
Thanks in advance
James

Check with AAT
Most accounting bodies have regulations about students being self employed.
If there is no problem with AAT you need to register with HMRC as a self employed bookkeeper for tax nic and money laundering.
For your own protection you need to take out p.i. insurance.
You also need to register with the data protection agency.
