I am finishing off the accounts for a client whose main accounts signatory is off in Australia at the minute. He has given me the name of another director to sign in his absence. However, I have noticed on company search that the other director was appointed in April (it is a March year end). Can he sign given that he wasn't a director at year end, but is a director at date of signing the accounts? Thanks

Yes.
He may not be best placed to answer questions on the year. But if it's just signing, if he is a member of the board, present at the meeting when they are signed then, yes, he can sign them.
Yes
Just checking though - when and how was the meeting held ?
It can be electronic or telephone or whatever. I take it that the director who was acting during the year under review has seen a copy of the accounts and can give his approval to them ?

Hi,
I will call Companies House on monday but I'm hoping somebody might be able to answer over the weekend:
I need to file company accounts for 31/03/14. The company's name changed on 07/07/14. Should the accounts titles show the new name, the old one, or both?
Thanks in advance
And Happy New Year

No requirement to show the previous name but, personally, I include it as a voluntary disclosure in the Directors' Report.
