Small bus. accounting software with departments

Small bus. accounting software with departments

Didn't find your answer?

Hi guys,

We want to change from the QuickBooks we've been using since we were a small(er) business to something a bit more suited to our needs.  What the management team really want is to effectively have each region shown as a different cost centre and have it's own P&L: so direct costs such as those employed in each region plus the region's share of marketing and tech. resources costs.  Is there any software that can do this effectively?

Also, as most of us work remotely I imagine a cloud based offering would be beneficial (we currently all have to VPN to a virtual machine, which can do slow) but this is by no means the deciding factor.

Thank you :)

Why change?

QuickBooks would seem to be capable of doing exactly what you want. You can set up a class for each region.

Have you looked at QB online?

I haven't, and I know there are some let downs moving from QB Earth to QB Cloud, but I agree with Andrew's comment above one of QB's strengths was both it's Class & Job analysis?

Xero can do it using tracking categories which works quite neatly.

Quickbooks

I agree that Quickbooks desktop can do what you want without any fuss. Some people are a bit sniffy about this software, but I've always found it very useful and would be reluctant to change.

The only issue that I've got with QB is that if there was a large volume of transactions and the data file became too large, the program would become unstable. Maybe Intuit have fixed that issue. Does anyone know?

I've tried cloud accounting, and it's troublesome and slow.
