The smiley HMRC woman

The smiley HMRC woman

Didn't find your answer?

For a laugh I thought I'd ask that smiley HMRC woman on the website chat window thing what was the deal with their website being down.  I instantly got the reply

Thank you, it looks like you need an adviser to help you with your query today.

I've checked for an available adviser but unfortunatley we have no one available to chat at the moment.

Please visit GOV.UK for help or try again later

Thank you and goodbye.

Which is the online equivalent of "Thanks for holding, no-one is here, bye".

The last time I boggled her brain she instantly said "You can find the answer to many queries on the HMRC site".

So she is basically a spambot, she ignores what you put and just fires off a set reply.

Pointless!

This is getting boring ...

Image is of a pin up style woman in a red dress with some of her skirt caught in the filing cabinet. She looks surprised.

I nearly got an adviser!

She said an adviser would shortly be available - est wait time 2 minutes. This changed to 15 Minutes and then just kicked me out.

Don't care anyway - I can access online services now....adviser probably gone home.

What smiley woman/

I can only see Lin Homer who appears to be smiling....not sure she is a spambot; though that wouldn't  be the worse thing I have heard her called.

To get her to appear you have to stare at the agent login screen and say 'I do believe in HMRC' over and over under your breath, until with a puff of fairy dust she appears!

I swear she was smiling earlier, now she looks like she is having none of my shenanigans

.

What I love about it is the retro-feel of the graphic, all blocky and pixelated. I assume its a homage to late 1980's computing.

I can only assume its really cool amongst hipsters and we are supposed to appreciate the irony of its use.

Either that or HMRC IT skills really are that advanced.
