Sole practitioners - do you have an alternate?

I've just had my annual ICAEW practice review, one of the points that came out of it was the need to appoint an alternate.

I'm a sole practitioner and up to now have had an informal arrangement with another accountant and haven't taken it any further, basically a brief chat with a friend.

Putting my sensible hat on I realise that I need to formalise this arrangement.

I'd be interested to find out what arrangements other sole practitioners have, not just ICAEW members.

Also any sole practitioner ICAEW members in the South East PM me if you're interested in discussing this.
