speed limits for accountants?

speed limits for accountants?

Didn't find your answer?

So apparently the government are consulting on who should be allowed to break the speed limits, and HMRC want a piece of the action.  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-20511424

Can anyone think of circumstances where accountants might benefit from such an exemption?

Nope

We are not emergency lifesavers, or firefighters (in the strictest sense of the word), nor are we out to apprehend some criminal (expect maybe unintentionally).

There isn't anything I can think of that couldn't be planned ahead, or anything that would suffer from waiting an hour or two (apart from some tempers!)

Wait

The proposals would see the law changed to require emergency drivers to complete high-speed training before they are able to drive over the speed limit.

Wait, you mean they don't have to do that anyway?!?  I always assumed they did!

... those in any new classification of drivers permitted to so do, so they are in line with those currently able to do so!

HMRC Speed-limts

With HMRC taking six weeks for Self Assessment registrations (among other things) are we in any real danger of speed limits being broken?

My son

Has just completed his 'blues and two's' driver training with the fire service. He failed it due to..err......speeding!

Or, in the jargon: 'failing to make progress' in a timely and safe manner'

When I look at the progress I'm (not) making with some of my work, I think I sympathise!

I rather fancy it

I rather fancy driving around with flashing blue lights and hee-haw sirens going.  Would make me feel very important.  Added to which it would be a life-saver 'cos if I get home late for tea the wife will kill me!!
