Since the introduction of the Statutory Residence Test in April, many of questions have arisen.
I'm going to be attending a Tolley webinar in two weeks, and want to know if members have any questions on this for renowned tax expert Chris Jones, CIOT Vice President and Tolley Director of Tax & Learning Solutions.
Chris will be answering these questions, using the wealth of knowledge at Tolley, via a webinar in December.
If you've got any questions, either PM me or post them below and I'll compile a list to put to Chris.

Don't dabble!
As someone who specialises in advising people on tax and residence and domicile I would strongly recommend that Accountingweb members don't dabble in this area as it has some extremely complicated depths and because it is so black and white with lots of hoops to jump through there is no wriggle room if you get your advice wrong.
If you want to give advice do your homework really thoroughly on the new rules. HMRC have guidance notes on their website which run to over 100 pages at the last count. Don't forget that advice now might relate partly to the period before 6 April 2013 so you need to understand the old rules as well.
If you don't want to do that, then ask a specialist for advice on any clients with residence and/or domicile issues and pass on the fee.
You may not earn as much but at least your PI will be intact!

Why complete Tax Returns
Client and wife leave UK to work in USA for at least three years. That's the plan but who knows? They let their unfurnished UK home. Rent receivable in total will never equal two UK personal allowances. Losses are unlikely to occur and if did arise there is no other UK property owned or let. Why the UK Tax Return and non-resident rigmarole? There is no other UK income.
Hi Rachael hope im not too late
we have a client who got married in November and left UK with her husband to live in SIngapore. leaving aside any complications re his tax status which is opaque is the wife deemed to be resident if she keeps a property here but it is constantly let out . thanks
Still in time?
I have a client who has no residence here, only spends about 4 weeks a year here, and only works in UK for 2 weeks in the year. Paid by a Swiss company to an overseas bank account.
I have looked at questions and think he is automatically non-resident
Problem is he doesn't want to be
