Supperannuation Contribution by self employed dentist

Supperannuation Contribution by self employed...

Didn't find your answer?

Hi,

I would be grateful if someone you could advise correct treatment of superannuation contribution by dentists. Do we use figure from NHS certificate SD86c? which combines employee & employer contribution?  or just employee's contribution is under question?

If self employed dentist has been paid AFTER deducting these contributions, is it correct practice to add these deductions back to total profits and then claim these in box 3 on TR4 page? If yes, do we claim only employee's contribution or both employee & employer?

Furthermore, how do we treat these contributions in accounts? business expense or drawings?

Superann - NHS

I used to be involved in Doctors' accounts where the standard practice was to add the "employees" deduction back to income and include it in expenses on the p&l. You must avoid the "employer's" contributions. This was sometime ago so I cannot guarantee if the accepted treatment is still the same.
