Tax advice helpline

Tax advice helpline

Didn't find your answer?

I used to use the Tax Advice Network helpline which gave access to the CCH helplines, charging £25 + VAT each time. However I have now discovered that this is no longer available.

Does anyone else use a pay as you go tax advice service? I don't use it very regularly so would rather not pay a subscription but it is useful to know that advice can be sought when needed.

Many thanks

PTP - now part of the Iris Group - we have used them as consultants for years and have generally received excellent service.

Here if you need me!

Hi
I provide a tax advice helpline on a 'Pay as you go' basis. I charge in 5 minute units. I appreciate that what you're really looking for on AWeb is a recommendation rather than someone banging their own drum so I won't go on but my contact details are below if you would like further information.

Regards

Cathy

Tax Advice Network

We actually removed all reference to the helpline from the home page of our website and stopped promoting the facility 9 months ago. This is the first time I've become aware anyone has missed it.  I'm sorry for any inconvenience caused.

The original intention was to provide a low fixed-cost facility to resolve simple queries that would otherwise prove distracting for the independent tax experts who had joined the network.

In the event the helpline received relatively little use. However the facility led to a degree of confusion with some people expecting advice for £25 from our advisers; we also had loads of calls from people wanting to check that they would get a real expert in their subject before parting with their £25.

It became clear that most accountants and other users of our website prefer engaging with a tax specialist who can do more than reply to simple enquiries over the phone.  In fact most of the tax adviser members are willing to do this so it seemed unnecessary to continue promoting an alternative facility.

You are still welcome to choose a vetted independent specialist tax expert through the network and to contact them by phone or email: www.TaxAdviceNetwork.co.uk  And, like everyone else who uses the Network you can do so on a pay as you go basis.

Raventax

I have a free help line with my PII, but I have also used Raventax. Of the two, Raventax seems to give better, more thought-out advice.

Vote for Cathy

I am very pleased with Raven Tax. PII helplines have given me wrong advice a few times!

Thanks for all the advice

Thank you for all the comments. I'll certainly try Cathy another time. This time I used the tax referral scheme from the ICAEW tax faculty and received helpful advice.
