Tax repayment for 2013-14

Tax repayment for 2013-14

Didn't find your answer?

Hi all

I filed my tax return for the year 2013-14 on April 10th, and it turns out I'm owed £1,980, which is great.

However, will this be paid now (or soon) or will I have to wait until January 31st 2015, the due date?

I knew I was owed some tax back which is why I did my return so quickly!

Thanks in advance!

It's normally

repaid straight away - often in your bank account in a few days if you supplied details

If you asked for a cheque, that's subject to normal HMRC postal systems - i.e. it can take a fortnight from date of issue to arrive

However, some repayments get held up for mysterious "security checks" and those can take weeks or months to complete.

Thanks for the response
Thanks for that - is that still the case even though the tax return is not due until 31st January 2015? i.e the payment won't be made until then?

As under the Repayments section in my HMRC Online, it says due Repayment Pending, but due date of 31st January. That's what's confusing me!!

You should get it soon.

The due date for the Return is 31st January 2015. However, you have filed your Return and the repayment should arrive into your bank account within about a week. The only reason it might be delayed is if it was, as Cloudcounter said, selected for security checking. For the amount that you are talking about, I think that is unlikely.

Also, I think from memory that if your online account say "Repayment Pending" it means that it is in the processed of being repaid.

By the way, I'm pretty good at getting a lot of Tax Returns filed fairly quickly after the end of the tax year but 10TH APRIL...now that's impressive.

Tax repayment 2013-2014

I agree with previous responses. Repayment should be received in a few days, on basis that you gave your Bank details.Check on-line and it will show when payment changes from pending to issued. Alternatively, sometimes you have to request the repayment, (unlikely in your scenario) but this will also be clear when you log in and you can do this on-line very simply. You will not have to wait until 31 January 2015!

I have the same message. But no repayment yet. I rang HMRC and they said it might take 3 weeks to issue a repayment.

Nope haven't received yet.

Some of my friends have received cheque for repayments  but i guess online payments is not so straightforward. They are taking their sweet time.
