It's the first/only Stat Accounts and tax program I've ever used, as I only started up last year.

It seems pretty good to me, though it doesn't appear to be recommended on AWEB all that often

As a relative newbie, fair to say the support I have received from them has been excellent and positive, compared to other experiences with other software.

Glad to hear someone else using and liking - gives me a little comfort in my own judgement/decision to use.

Cheers

mick

I like it

I have used Taxcalc for a couple of years and like it from an accounts and tax viewpoint.  Think it is easy to use and quick for doing accounts and tax returns.  Actully prefer it to IRIS which used for about 13 years when an employee in practice.

The only place it is lacking is PM and timesheets.

I am still contemplating moving over to IRIS but it is a big jump in cost.  Plus IRIS charge for additional users and clients whereas taxcalc is unlimited users and only something like £50 for an additional licence.

I might just stick with my WIP spreadsheets and add on TBooker for timesheets recording and Virtual Cabinet to go down the paperless office route as well as they portal for sending documents electronically.  Currently using Hellosign for sending documents electronically but VC wins over it as you can do that plus send documents to be viewed securely as well as clients sending you documents securely.

Have seen the different taxcalc layout on their website but dont have a notification through yet to update the software but hopefully will come soon as certainly seems easier on the eye that what currently exists.

Digita

marks, have a look at Digita. It's similar to Iris but not as expensive.

Thanks Peter

I have done a demo re Digita but didnt like it.

In all honesty I prefer taxcalc over IRIS from an accounts and tax viewpoint but IRIS is better from a fully integrated viewpoint.

Though as said I am thinking of using taxcalc, with TBooker for timesheets and excel spreadsheets to keep a track of jobs at least until have a few more staff.

I shifted to Tax Calc last year after using Tax Assistant (Now part of Iris) since SA was introduced. I have currently only got the tax offering and am still using PTP for accounts production, my thinking being I did not want too many changes at the same time. Agree new version looks nicer but have yet to use it. (Likely April/May before really have any new IT/CT returns to do)

I had no real issues with it last year, it performed as expected, and learning to use it was fine. I did have the extra work re setting up the clients but as I do not have that many the burden was not that bad.

I intend to possibly try the accounts offering maybe late April (after I return from Easter holiday)  with the idea of starting to use it for the less complex accounts and work my way up to my most complex set by July/August ( if not ready to try a lengthy set by then (Company with very extensive narrative notes)  I will just prepare them on PTP which runs to October.

I am attracted to the linking functionality, anyone use Tax Calc for both tax and accounts?

Excellent support...

I was badgering them for the 14/15 update and they sent me a link as soon as it was available.

Start up screen much improved. Not had a chance to check out all the changes yet but it looks pretty good. Glad I stuck with them!
