Time after applying to get PAYE references

Time after applying to get PAYE references

Didn't find your answer?

Just wondering what experience others were having with this?

How long between completing the online details to register a business as an employer, and getting the letter with references in the post?

We did a bunch ~3 weeks ago, being pretty much the earliest we could with a view to starting post 6 April (as I gather can only be done 28 days in advance at most).  None received yet.

Only 5 days?! :-(

Hmmm...

How do you tend to do the applications?  We did them from agent portal login, register for HMRC taxes...but I'm aware in previous years we've done them a different way (just from an online page from memory).

One of the applications was for an entity we're in full control of, got the automated email saying application received on 13 March 2014, nothing since then.  I know a few clients got automated receipt emails too.

I'll give HMRC a call, see if I can find out what's going on with these...

Gah, after being on hold for

Gah, after waiting on hold for 20 mins, getting transferred to another dept, then waiting on hold for another 20 mins, turns out it's because they're unable to process ones for the new tax year until today.

So sod all the crap about "you can register 28 days in advance" we heard on another thread...maybe you can, but HMRC won't bother processing it in advance.

Fingers crossed 5 working days from today they'll all get letters with references.  So much for planning well in advance to give plenty of time for first period's RTI to be submitted on time...
