Time & Expenses Software

Time & Expenses Software

Didn't find your answer?

Clinet is a medium size PR consultancy which is showing significant growth. They currently use SAGE 50 Project costing to capture external costs - they now wish to improve time recording, analysis & stats - is there any product out there that could also link to SAGE 50 projects module? or is it better to just keep this separate thus using SAGE projects reports for external costs and manually merge with the time recording software for billing purposes?

Several different approaches spring to mind:

1) You can, as standard, import timesheets and expenses into Sage 50, which means that you could use pretty much any timesheet and expenses software that's able to export the details needed as a csv or xls

2) If the staff are already used to a timesheet system (and at least not rebelling against it), it may be best to look at extending that so that it links to Sage 50.  This can be done semi-manually using as outlined in point 1 or, possibly, automated using some custom software to talk directly to Sage 50.

3) There's at least one third party product, http://www.deepaksareenassociates.com/, which is in the Sage Additions catalogue and appears to meet your headline needs.  I don't have any particular knowledge of it, and it's possible that there are competitive products.

4) Depending on the client's size and rate of growth, it may be appropriate to switch to Sage 200, which has a fully fledged project accounting module and a Sage provided web timesheets and expenses module.  There's an online version of Sage 200 now, which makes the change an easier step for Sage 50 users (it keeps the installation comparatively simple and is paid for on a rental basis).

If you can provide approximate current and planned for staff numbers I might be able to comment more specifically.
