Time limit for making Self Assessment Tax Return

Time limit for making Self Assessment Tax Return

Didn't find your answer?

Client's 2007 - 2010 SATR were late, which were submitted in Aug-14. HMRC has refused to take any action with the information on those tax returns but has cancelled the fixed penalties luckily but kept the determinations where as we were expecting a refund of £2700 instead of HMRC chasing for £8880. There is no information on the letter that we can appeal against the decision. Any suggestion please, what can we do.

Special relief

Your client's only hope now is probably 'Special Relief' - see helpful items on Tax Aid website at

http://taxaid.org.uk/guides/taxpayers/tax-returns/late-tax-returns and

and also HMRC guidance at SACM12215.
