Hi
As part of an analysis in Excel, I currently enter times in hour and minutes using a decimal approach rather than a time notation, so seven hours and twenty minutes is entered as 7.20. Is there anyway of having Excel recognise this as 7:20, so I type 7.20, but excel converts shows 7:20? This is purely for expediency, as typing a decimal is quicker due to using the numerical key pad.
Thank you in advance
Neil

Using formula
This would do it assuming the 7.20 is in cell F13
=TIME(INT(F13),(F13-INT(F13))*100,0)
Excel formatting for time
There is a fairly easy way to format time in the format hh:mm in Excel and that way you can directly input 7.20 so that it appears as 7:20.
Go into formatting, number, time to achieve this formatting.
As you are probably aware Excel can make calculations based on time, where by 1 = 24 hrs,
1/24 = 1 hour, 1/24/60 - 1 minute. This works well with the hh:mm format that I refer to above.
