Work experience - pay

Work experience - pay

Didn't find your answer?

I am under a little bit of pressure to provide £200 cash to be given to a work experience girl who was with us for a short time.  I am happy to provide the cash but I am insisting the payment has to go through the payroll.  Am I being a little unreasonable?

Made me wonder
how work experience differs from paid work for minimum wage purposes. Is that an issue?

I can't see a problem (for you) with applying PAYE as there will likely be no tax/NI due. Whether it is strictly necessary is a moot point, given the amount involved, unless it's a regular occurrence.

Wondering...

I wondered the same thing - volunteers (which this was) do not qualify for NMW.  Thanks for your thoughts - it's not a regular occurrence...and this payment will go through the payroll.
