Using MS Outlook as a client database

Didn't find your answer?

Curious to know if anyone here uses Outlook as their client database and if you use add ins to edit outlook to your requirements?

We've used CRM software in the but found it expensive and with limited functionality.

Yes

For a small business Outlook can be a really good CRM system. I did edit Outlook at first but it didn't work out how I wanted so reverted to using the standard setup. I use journals to create a record of telephone conversations and I import texts. I also use the notes field for tags that I might want to search by. Outlook is easily synchronised with a smart phone. In this way, it's really easy to access most of our interactions with clients.

It's maybe not so easy when you want to share the data with others. You might need MS Exchange or I did successfully use some sharing software from ShareO.

I do use some fields for purposes they were not intended. E.g. I put and "x" in pager field if the contact should get a Xmas card. It's then easy to mail merge all the addresses you need to print on labels.
