VAT and Distance Selling in the EU

VAT and Distance Selling in the EU

Didn't find your answer?

Hi

I think I understand the Distance Selling rules for online retailers however I am unclear if the thresholds set by each EU member state is total sales value of goods irrespective of whether they are zero or standard rated (i.e total taxable supplies) or if we need only monitor the distance selling of standard rated supplies - hence removing the zero rated supplies form the equation

My initial reading of the rules would be we need to monitor total (i.e. zero and standard)

Any one confirm the correct treatment?

I would say all

My opinion would be that you should include all sales - zero-rated sales are VATable sales after all, it's just that the rate of VAT is zero.

For international VAT queries check out http://www.tmf-vat.com/ - they are very helpful.
