VAT on bridesmaid dress

VAT on bridesmaid dress

Didn't find your answer?

Could anyone confirm that flower-girl/bridesmaid dresses are eligible for zero-rating as long as they reach the measurement criteria for children's clothing.

Many thank

I think if you decided you wanted the kids to go for the whole Disney princess look all the time, you'd still be OK to not pay VAT, assuming the measurements were OK.  Anyone else any thoughts?  Clothing rules bizarre.

Yes, I worked with a chap once who was very diminutive - he said he had never paid VAT on clothing!

@Charlotte

I am afraid the measurements in the publication Basil has directed you to are based on very old sizings and children has progressively got bigger quicker. This means that a lot of the bridesmaid dresses attract VAT because the maids exceed the sizings set out in the notice.

I know this only to well as my son gets married in 3 weeks and not one bridesmaid qualifies for Zero rating !!!!!!
