vat creditor balance

vat creditor balance

Didn't find your answer?

client uses cash accounting. Should the VAT creditor be shown as if using accruals accounting?

If so how do I adjust the vat balance- ie where does the other side of the journal get posted to-purchases or sales ?

A strange question

Cash Accounting should not make any difference to your accounts - you continue to credit/debit net sales/expenses to the P&L as normal, with the output and input VAT going to the VAT control account.

The difference is that the balance on your VAT account is unlikely to match the balance due on the VAT return (assuming the return date and the ARD coincide). But it should be a simple task to reconcile the two - the difference being the VAT on your unpaid debtors and creditors.
