VAT on domains and web hosting in the US
If a UK VAT registered business pays for domains and web hosting services hosted on servers in the US, can VAT be reclaimed on these costs ??
There appears to be conflicting information about where the 'place of supply' of the services is and whether it is where the supplier belongs or where the customer belongs (UK VAT registered business) and is enjoying the services.
This surely is a common situation where UK registered businesses are paying for web hosting services hosted on servers in the US and so why does there not appear to be a very short and simply clarification of this scenario from HMRC ??
Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.
