VAT for restaurants

Didn't find your answer?

Hello,

we are a private company. QUite often aside business lunches our management have own lunches at an expense of a company. We don't claim VAT for these expenses as we dont want to get into a hassle of explaining the nature of lunches to HMRC. Is it an OK practice from the HMRC point of view? Thank you.

Business Expenditure?

Is it ok not to claim VAT? HMRC will always answer 'yes!' And they are unlikely to pursue the matter further.
