VT Accounts

VT Accounts

Didn't find your answer?

What is the best way to get to grips with VT? I downloaded it and it seems it would take a long time to work it all out....are there training courses for it?

It may seem daunting at first but...

It's actually very simple and you certainly don't need a training course, not to use the software anyway.

Start by using the "new accounts workbook" option. Select the appropriate template, tick the "manual entry box" under trial balance and adjustments, and tick "ask me if I want to display instructions".

View workbook properties and input the appropriate data. VT will ask you if you want to display instructions... click yes, and just follow these through.

Needless to say it depends on the complexity of the entity your accounting for but, for small limited companies, essentially you just need to fill in the current year and comparable figures on the TB tab (assets and expenses are +ve!) and a few fields on the data tab.

Once you hit autohide VT will present you with draft accounts (and abb. accounts) and from there you just need to check through and amend the notes and accounting policies.

As George 1234 said above...

it's a great piece of software and fairly easy to learn.

If you just set aside an hour or two to go through their online manual, you will be surprised at how quickly you pick it up.

Even easier.....

It is even easier to prep the accounts to trial balance in VT+ and just pull that through to VT accounts prep. I was a bit daunted by the look of it at first as it was quite different to what I had been used to but soon got the hang of it (and I am well known to be an IT Luddite).

When I first got VT I sat down one evening and input a job that I had already done on our previous software.  Within an hour I had a set of accounts and was scratching my head thinking I had missed something  because it was so easy.  I had entered a TB, drafted the accounts and reviewed the notes in pretty much the time it used to take me to set up the client in our old software.  I love the simplicity of the software, no frills, no fancies, just what you see is what you get.
