VT Accounts Query

VT Accounts Query

Didn't find your answer?

I have a limited company client who I will be doing a first set of accounts for this year.

Their accounts are very similar to another limited company client whose accounts I have just finished putting together in VT Accounts - I purchased this software as I was thoroughly fed up with HMRC's own accounts software.

I thought it would be more time efficient to create a copy of the existing accounts for the other company, change the company name / details and enter the new balances into the TB. But I can't work out if it's possible to edit the name of the company, which obviously feeds through to all of the pages of the accounts.

It will be annoying if I have to create a new accounts worksheet from scratch, because although I find VT Accounts generally fairly user-friendly, there are several things missing - a good quality accountants report, an appropriate statement of Directors Responsibilities etc - and when I add these things in manually, it takes an awful lot of time juggling row heights and other formatting.  Or maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Perhaps more experienced VT Accounts users could enlighten me!

Thank you.

Just go to 'workbook properties'

This is an icon to the right of 'create new workbook'.

VT Accounts is an amazing piece of software, with a very good help system, but you do need to experiment with new software and learn what it can do before you can get the very best out of it.

Yes You Can

If you open the existing file and save it as a new file. Then go to workbook properties and you can change the name and the accounting year end there.

Also remember to change the directors details in the directors report and most common one usually missed out is the note part "controlling parties"

Oh also dont forget to change the company's UTR number in the workbook properties as well.

Accountants reports; statement of directors responsibilities

Accountants reports (there are several to choose from), statement of directors responsibilities, company name etc are all options in the Workbook Properties dialog (second button on the VT toolbar).

Thank you very much for the responses - I will give it a go!

Philip - thank you for your response regarding reports etc - I have found the generic reports to be rather short in comparison to those I used prior to using the VT software.  Perhaps I need to look again in case anything has changed...

Accountants reports

The generic accountants report is based on the old ACCA report (technical factsheet 32). Also available are the more verbose ACCA and ICAEW reports which are based on the current CCAB recommendation.

I personally like to keep things simple. There is no legal requirement to include an accountants report. If I were preparing a set of accounts I would not include one.

Similarly, for an audit exempt company, there is no requirement to include a separate statement of directors responsibilities. This is already covered by the wording on the balance sheet.
