No Saturday Club here

Put iPlayer on your iPad and watch it in the background, it helps the day go quicker.

We are done for this year, just waiting for a couple of returns to come back signed

First time ever this has happened

Hope today is bearable - it'll all be over soon for another year !

Wow

Well done sarahg.

I had 7 more emails arrive overnight with tax return data. This despite repeated reminders since May.

Drives you mad doesn't it !

I just don't understand why people think it's OK to leave it until now !  They have had 9 months

7 more overnight TaxTeddy - that sucks - anything I can help with?

At least, Teddy,  if you are on the verge of tears you can cuddle yourself.

I have a stash of CDs that I haven't listened to in years ready to go. Always brings back happy memories to counteract the cr*p.

Many Happy Returns. See what I did there?

No accounting for taste

Thanks Andy

I'm not allowed to play my back catalogue if the wife is in the office. Apparently she doesn't like Quo, Marillion, Mott, Hackett, Trower. Happily I am on my own today!!

Easy

Expat stuff with rentals and investments sources of income? Easy, surely! :P

Had a bag full of receipts Friday 5PM! ... I don't think I'm going to make much effort with that one.

Bags of fun

Isn't it amazing that in this high tech age the old 'bag of receipts' still exists. Actually I find it rather heartwarming - brings a touch of nostalgia to the proceedings. Haven't had any for a while but I live in hope.

Well I am going to see the Script in Feb to treat myself

Hi

Well I am going to see the Script with my son at the Hdyro Glasgow. We both love the band so this weekend will pay for it over £160 for both of us and then we will have a nice meal as well.  So I will listen to the Script while I work and tell myself the pain will be worth it . I am worth it as the ad goes.   I am really looking forward to it.   I really thought I had it all sorted this year.

Well I am one of the employees working nights and Saturday for no remuneration.
In fact we must be the only people that overtime costs us as we have to buy meals etc which we could have at home for a fraction of the price.

Don't mind

I don't mind working weekends in winter.

I make up for it by having long summer weekdays off.

I just console myself ...

... that it will pay for my new super-dooper PC that is ordered ready for next month spec'd so I can start playing Elite Dangerous, as well as resolving all the problems I have loading World of Tanks on current PC - you may not hear from me for a few months after next Saturday, what with that and the 6 nations to look forward too, the real thing that keeps my mojo going through January :o)

(don't all cheer at once!).

I tend towards punk/new wave for a bit of adrenalin to complement the caffeine. This isn't a recommendation, I'm not sure my PII would cover it.

Hey

Been working overtime a few days this month.

Got some banging 90s beats going on in my office and working through one of my final company accounts which need doing. Only a few more lateies on my list for SA....

it's not too bad.

Have you ever been on a tube train ....

... when there is a perfectly normal conversation going on and then some nutter wanders through the carriage muttering bizarre threats .... but the conversation just carries on as if no one had noticed? All very English! Anyway, musically I seem a bit stuck in a 90's progressive dance rut at the moment. Its every bit as good as coffee at channeling concentration when working long hours.

Overtime club

Saturday, Sunday and late night club ! Next year will be different ;-) I can say that confidently only because we took over another practice  a few months ago and the clients have yet to learn our way ;-) I have no idea what the middle of the conversation thread is about and I don't wish to

Just settling down

for a Sunday night session - 2 partnership and 3 SA returns to finish and then plan for the week ahead.

Couple of tricky one's to do and will include a few late nights to finish the last of the stragglers

@DJKL - can't believe no-one else picked up on the lyrical link;)

@Steve Holloway - always seems to happen when the transport police have clocked off.

Well, the fifteen returns are done

The  client returns are now all done, sixteen still need signed so a bit of running around  re this over next couple of evenings.

Then just a few to finish re the day job, to complete them all for the year (2  have horrible  multiple CGT entries but at least I do not have to do these during evenings/weekends and the figures are all now computed-just data input involved) and then just one more, the slightly embarrassing one; my own.

By next weekend I will have no excuse left for not returning to working on the kitchen at weekends, just need to replace the outside sill re the kitchen window, sand the door and rehang it the other way, refurbish the shutters as it has been commanded that there should be working shutters and then redecoration of the room and sanding and varnishing the floor; SA starts to look appealing as I think about the next four / six/ eight/ ten (delete as required) weekends.

Apropos of nothing

... and so the end of another day/weekend slogging through tax returns. SWMBO has forgotten what I look like. The January 'save 5 minutes not shaving' beard is coming along, if a bit itchy. And I have 8 more to do, but I know they're all doozies. Hey ho. Roll on Minehead 'Giants of Rock' in Feb.

Nighty night all. I'm done for the day

The troll thing

Earlier I was dis interested and now I feel irritated by the whole thing-some of  us are spending many, many hours trying to help clients old and new to meet the January deadline which is why I personally responded to the original OP. Some of you guys with your apparent personal vendetta have undermined the good work by professionals in this forum. I would respectfully suggest that you find a more appropriate means of having your discussion in another forum as this surely is not the place and certainly not the time to try and gather any sympathy here.

For everyone else involved with personal tax I hope that these final six days (for 13/14 anyway!)run smoothly and that our/your clients appreciate all of our help particularly if out of normal office hours.
