What is IRIS World like?

Didn't find your answer?

What is IRIS World like? I went on to the web page and couldn't find any information other than a video called "Why do accountants attend IRIS World?" which I haven't get time to watch.

I have no idea. Would that enable me to get a transcript or something?

Hi chatman

Have a look at the video from the 2014 event it's only 2 & a half minutes long and you'll get a feel for what people get out of it.

I've been attending for as long as i can remember and, like many, the main reason is to get to know what's coming up from the software so that you can better plan for the months/year ahead. It's also a chance to see each module as well as add-ons and related products.

As with other events, the additional bene is meeting up with other practitioners, including me & Old Greying Accountant, even Peter Saxton was there last year and he's not a user!

The afternoon breakout sessions are a bit hit and miss and, in fact, I didn't bother last year but, in the past I've learned some interesting stuff from these.

Finally, the lunches are good

Not happy Paul
Bishopsgate!
I'll be off to Brum this year, that is a good venue, went to the Earnie conference there, excellent food and all those bikes to drool over

Not bad

I've been once (been meaning to go more than that, but life/work got in the way).

I stayed for the morning sessions - good update/look forward on the software, and an excellent tax update sessions, which manage to be amusing as well as informative.

If I can make it, I fully intend to go again.  Worth my time.

WS.

Apparently ...

... Twickenham was not available due to the rugby World Cup, that is the only possible justification and I begrudgingly forgive the move.

No brainer for me, hour and three quarters in the car driving through lovely countryside with  great music for 120 or miles and thousands of motorbikes to look at the other end, or similar time for the 20 or so miles in a crowded train listening to loud boring phone conversations and the chinga chinga ching of "personal" music players without the motorbikes as reward.

Thanks Paul. I think I'll go. I've started using a couple of their web products recently and I'd never miss a chance to see you and Peter Saxton.

IRIS World ...

... is a strange place, because whilst the weather there is temperate and the sun shines all the time paradoxically the sky is always full of clouds!

There is no need for SatNavs on IRIS World as all roads link up and lead to the same place, so you can never get lost. There are no dead ends or blind alleys either, so wherever you explore you are never more than a step away from home.

The only downside is the cost of living is too high for many, especially the smaller practices!

Brilliant OGA
I would have added another downside...that all the inhabitants are bloody accountants...but then, as you demonstrate, not all accountants are accountants.
