What pension amount do I fill in?

What pension amount do I fill in?

Didn't find your answer?

Hi.

I am a higher-rate taxpayer and my employer and pension fund that I contribute to have told me I need to fill the pension contributions in to my self-assessment return.

I have been given three amounts:

- My contributions   £x

- Company contributions   £x

- Total contributions   £x

all from what I can tell those are after a 20% tax rebate.

When I fill the return online what figure do I use?

Thanks.

Yours

Your employer will claim relief on the company contributions.  You can claim relief on yours.

Thank you

Taxhound,

Thank you very much. I thought it would be a little out of place if I claimed all of it (i.e. the total contributions) against my 40% tax bracket.
