What special requirements are needed for a CASC?

Didn't find your answer?

I have been approached by a local sports club (CASC) who have asked me to give them a quote to "Audit" their accounts. I'm pretty sure they don't actually need an audit.

They are a CASC, I have never dealt with a CASC so I wondered what compliance work is required? Do they have to submit a tax return?  I have looked at various info on the net but can only really find information on whether a club can qualify as a CASC but little on what is actually involved in running a CASC.

Also, any idea on what fee I should quote? Their Turnover is £16k -£18k. From the information I've got I presume they want me to prepare year end accounts but I'm not sure If there is anything specific I will need to do for a CASC. Do they need to file year end accounts with any one? Do they need an independent examination, like a small charity?

Thanks

There's nothing special here

There are no special requirements for a CASC in accounting terms. There is no legal requirement for an audit or Independent Examination. All you need to know from a tax perspective is that, with turnover of only £16-18k they will not have any corporation tax liability.

Make sure your engagement letter spells out clearly that it is not your responsibility to ensure they continue to meet the CASC qualifying criteria.
