Has anyone else seen the ICAS note forbidding firms to use the term Chartered Accountants in their trading names ? I am thinking we are going to have to make a lot of expensive changes...stationery, advertising, website etc.

What?
You mean that you can't say what you are? That seems a completely bizarre restriction. In fact, counterproductive for the profession.
Can you post the note so we can see the wording and (any) rationale.
Is that no just for Ltd Companies
I had a chartered surveyor who wanted that in the name but co house knocked it back.
ACCA did this about 25 years ago, I was mellowed then, I think now I'ld small claims them for the costs of stationary changes.
The ICAEW has had the same rule for quite some time.
But it doesn!t mean you can't call yourself a firm of chartered accountants. A subtle distinction perhaps, but you can use the label to describe what you are, but not as part of your name as such.
So ABC Chartered Accountants is not allowed.
But ABC, Chartered Accountants is.
Company
We are Accounting Evidence Ltd. We are Chartered Accountants. But we are not Accounting Evidence Chartered Accountants Ltd.
OK?

Storm in a tea cup - does not the ICAS have better things to do rather than hassle hardworking practitioners with this sort of nonsense?
It's not just the ICAS, As stated above it's also the ICAEW and the ACCA. But what's the problem with it? It's been the case for decades and I have never heard anyone object to it before.
