Potential client just got in touch. They're a locum doctor, will be working via an agency.
Quite probably from a tax/accounting perspective they'll be no different to any other contractor...but I recall from my training days yonks ago that there was a specialist team just to deal with medical stuff, and its fancy rules (I never got involved in that dept).
I'm guessing these rules only apply to things like full on GP practices where a lot of income is from government, rather than just a locum doctor invoicing an agent for their time...but got a bit nervous, said I'd check and call him back.
Can someone put my mind at rest?
Also, wondered whether sales would be exempt from VAT as medical, or VATable as more of a consultancy fee?

There aren't any
I think you are referring to Superannuation and complications surrounding that, which won't apply if your client works through an agency.
As for VAT, I think you are in Rapid Sequence territory here and VAT could be due but its worth researching further.
Locum
If he is a locum, then by the very nature of that word he is providing medical services in the place of the resident doctor. That is not vatable.
