Who actually puts up HMRC content?

Who actually puts up HMRC content?

Didn't find your answer?

I have logged in to HMRC and looked at what tax returns were outstanding and saw this;

"The following tax return(s) have been issued but not recieved."

Who do they actually get to write this content and who checks it?

I imagine it's done automatically by the computer.  It will just log if a notice to deliver has been issued and cross check whether a return has been received.  Not difficult really. In my experience it can take a day or so for the system to notice the receipt of a return.

Why are you raising this?  Do you believe the system is showing wrong information for one or more of your clients?

John - I think....

....Peter was pointing out the spelling mistake.

Sorry I see so manly spelling and grammatical mistakes on here I assumed it was Peter's (no disrespect to him of course).

Poes law is in effect!

Not sure if John intentionally put 'manly' rather than 'many' for giggles... :)

No I didn't do it intentionally.  Makes my point perfectly.  For clarity people should put "sic" after deliberate spelling mistakes within quotes.

Point taken

I thought you would have expected me to copy it rather than type it again.

how do they know?

How does HMRC know that the taxpayer hasn't received his tax return?

They don't ...

They don't know whether a taxpayer has received a return or not.  All they know (and, to be fair, all they claim to know) is that they have issued a return for completion.

sloppy wording......

They don't make it clear who the returns have not been "received" by.Why don't they say "not been filed". If we were as sloppy with tax returns we would get charged penalties!
