WWOOFers

Didn't find your answer?

WWOOF is an acronym for World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms and is a scheme by which volunteers learn about farming by working on an organic farm. They normally receive no cash remuneration but are given free board, subsistence and fares to get there.

Does anyone think that there is some sort of obligation on the farmer in respect of the benefit of travel and accomodation notwithstanding being below the £8,500 threshold?  I realise that the accommodation can be deemed job related and exempt.

It is proposed that any such costs will be claimed against profits of the farmer for income tax purposes.

Apparently the question has been asked around the WWOOFers community for a while but no one has a definitive answer/

Many thanks and Happy Christmas
