Xero Practice Manager VOIP

Xero Practice Manager VOIP

Didn't find your answer?

We want to move to a VOIP system.  We use Xero Practice Manager as our CRM with Chrome.  We understand there isn't a VOIP system that intergrates directly with XPM, but we would be interested to hear from any AW users who have any workarounds.

We don't need to record calls and have a low number of incoming and outgoing calls say 5 each way a day.  With 3 office users.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Skype used to offer a browser addon which detects phone numbers and provides a one click calling. Not sure if still exists.

VOIP
I am sure if you want to pay someone they would develop some kind of integration.

What integration are you looking for exactly?

Skype for Business

... would be a good solution and comes with some versions of Office 365 - what functionality do you need?

@Petra

Why would Skype for business be a good solution when it doesn't allow external calls, either in or out?

Skype for business is not the solution here, it may well be when MS get the [***] into gear but not yet (nothing personal as an MS employee of course).

A service such as Voipfone would be much better suited.

Hi Howard,

To update this thread, the full functionality for Skype for Business with regards to 'normal' phone numbers will be in the release of the E5 SKU - in the early part of 2016.   If anyone would like to be kept up to date, simply register here to get feature updates as they come through each month.

Normal numbers

Hi Petra

That's certainly helpful to know - thanks.  I don't suppose we'll be able to port existing Skype numbers over to the business offering?

Remind me, can Skype for business users have the usual IM/video with standard Skype users? Do Skype for business users appear in the Skype directory like normal?

Just trying to get my head around the different offerings.

Skype for Business

Hi there,

You can add users on the consumer/ home version of Skype to your Skype for Business account easily by using their email address or Skype name.  From here you can screen share/IM/video/conference call etc.

You can send all of your Skype contacts to your Skype for Business account so the migration is rather simple.

And yes you are able to port your number from the consumer version to Skype for Business.

Petra.

@Petra

Thank you - that's really really good to know.  I was thinking about jumping ship if truth be told but i'll likely hang on for the new year now to see how the business offering pans out.
