Xero - Should I partner with them

Xero - Should I partner with them

Didn't find your answer?

Hello, I'm about to advise my first client to use Xero. I have used it before briefly but I wonder, should I become a Xero partner?

I can't foresee me added too many clients to Xero just because of most of my client's are small and the cost is an issue.

If I did partner with Xero should I then initiate an invitation for my client to join or can they join Xero in the meantime and associate themselves with my practice later on?

Thanks for any experienced help.

The benefit of partnering..

...is the small % discount you'll get that you can pass on or share with your client.

The downside is the pressure to then attend all their workshops & webinars and even to take their test, some of which will cost you (all to be able to do bookkeeping!).  This is from my experiences 3-4 years ago and so things may have got easier.

Not even sure I'll get > 4 client's on there

Thanks Paul, I'm not even sure I'll get over 4 clients on Xero so I may not qualify for any discount!

One thing they do list as a benefit of partnering (even for mini-me, <4 Xero clients) is: "Free Practice Organisation - to run your practice's books on".

This could be attractive if it's full feature access and I could gain more hands on experience of Xero to then help clients.

Anyone know if this benefit is a good as I've understood?

xero
We are xero partners and can't say enough good things about the products. We use their practice management software too which is great. I think you need 25 clients to get the PM system for free though. The efficiencies that have been brought to our clients and our practice make it all worthwhile.

But spend time getting to know their systems well. Its a challenge keeping up with the rate of improvements they make to their products!

2 clients for discount

I thought you only needed two clients for the discount, whatever their website might say!

I'd say do it.

I don't feel any pressure to go to their workshops or pay for training. There's not much benefit to the partner programme, as Pauyl says, just a small discount on the fees, but I don't think there is any downside either, so I'd say go for it.

The software is good, so you could easily run your practice accounts on it.

Don't do it!

Stick with Sage, you won't like Xero.

Don't buy into all this cloud malarkey.

I'm another yes

I only have a couple of clients using Xero (so far) but there is no downside that I'm aware of. The training/test that Paul Scholes mentioned is free and the "Free Practice Organisation - to run your practice's books on" is a full version of the Xero offering - I'm using it for my own books.

Do it
Purely for the fact that if you subscribe they are your records. Any future dispute that gives you a chip to play.
